My Evaluation for Evaluation 3 Audience Feedback

SCRIPT:

It was important I was aware of who my target audience was, this meant I could aim my products at them. For this I needed to know their demographics and psychographics, demographics being their age, gender, ethnicity etc, and psychographics being based more on my target audiences interests and beliefs. To find this out I used google drives to create a questionnaire aimed at my target audience to discover more about who they are and what they liked and disliked so I could aim my music video at them. Google drive was helpful as it was easy to distribute the questionnaire to specific people within range of my target audience.

When receiving the feedback from my questionnaire I discovered my target audience was young females which is stereotypical within the pop genre.
56.5%- female so I added in Lewis to appeal to males also
91.3%- 15-19 year olds
60.9% - middle class
50.5%- Caucasian
Also from this questionnaire I discovered my target audience like the videos 'Work From Home' and 'Touch' which are both from groups which is why I decided to use groups within the video and 2 main singers. Both videos include lip sync which again are stereotypical to the pop genre and is something I included in my music video.

With the first edits of my print products I targeted the target audience using bright colours which has connotations of love, happiness and energy, which are key themes within the pop genre, I wanted the typography to be bold to do this also. I wanted the images with the same model which is something most products do use. I wanted the model to be young so it was relevant to the target audience and someone who can inspire them which I also did through costume. I wanted the layout to be stereotypical very simple with a main image with the artist and album name so the target audience could see what the product was and whos it was.

When shooting the video we wanted to use many locations as it is fun and keeps the audience engaged when watching the video. After our first edits we used focus groups to gain feedback on our video. The focus group liked- the locations and the main images and how they were edited. The focus groups believed my product didn't have a clear enough house style with the music video. So to change this I made TV scan lines and added them the same as we had done with the music video. Doing this created that house style.

After releasing the final products my target audience liked my locations the house styles and also the costumes which inspired them. They liked the stereotypical pop conventions such as dance and lip sync which created energy. They thought the scan lines were unique. Overall the responses were positive liking the female empowerment and the clear narrative of the power point. The 2 different models showed 2 different perspectives.

It is always important that I take in to account my audience feedback when creating a media product as they are the people that buy the product so it is important that it appeals to them. It is important that the end product and model appeals to a mass audience to encourage more people to buy and watch the products.

EVALUATION 2 Introduction: The topic I had was an advanced portfolio where I created a music video (which I had the role of director) as well as designing a music advert and a digi-pak. I have advertised the same musical artist 'Demi Lovato' across the 3 different platforms. Doing this creates ...

PRODUCTION- Music advert final draft

From feedback I have made slight adjustments to my music advert. I have added TV scan lines to make it more relevant to the music video. I have also coloured the SYCO logo to make it fit with the yellow on the bottom of the page and I have moved the headline 'sorry not sorry' under the artists name to make it fit with the front of my digi-pak.

PRODUCTION- Digi-pak back final draft

From feedback I have made slight changes to my digi-pak back. I have added scan lines to make it fir to the theme of the music video. I have also added a copyright and logo of syco which is the music company. I have also taken out the heading 'track list' this is because the target audience would know this and it is not relevant for the back.

PRODUCTION- Digi-pak inside back final draft

After receiving feedback I have made slight edits to my digi-pak inside back.I have faded the colours to make them more similar to the music advert. I have also changed the colour of the font to do the same. I have added images of the models to make it fit with the overall style of the digi-pak.

PRODUCTION- Digi pak inside front final draft

From feedback I have slightly changed the inside front of my digi pak. I have removed the title to make it look more professional.

PRODUCTION- Digi-pak front final draft

After receiving feedback I have made slight edits to the front of my digi-pak. I have used scan lines to make the image appear similar to the effects used in the music video.

PRODUCTION- - Digi-pak and Music Advert

To get a better idea of what my digi-pak and magazine advert would look like I printed them off and assembled them in order to see what it would look like.

PRODUCTION- Digi-pak Back

Here is the back cover of my digi-pak. Like I planned I have had the tracklist on the back with all of the songs in different pastel colours to ensure it is bright and colourful. I also said I wanted to use something different within the back which is the model. The main artist is a female who sings the song however for the video we have used a male and a female. Although this is a album I wanted to use the model Lewis to create some advertisement on the video which will make the target audience intrigued. Like I have said in my plan, my questionnaire results show that my audience are more attracted to images, these images will do that.
Although in the plan I said I was going to put the companies involved on the back I decided to do this on the front as it is what more people will see and read and will advertise the company more than if it was on the back.

I believe this will attract my target audience as I have used multiple images and used bright colours, this was feedback I received in my questionnaire that I have used.

PRODUCTION- - Digi-pak Inside Back

Below is my final inside back for my Digi-pak. Like said in my layout design I have kept it simple and have used bright pastel colours. I have blurred the background to make the artists name and album standout. I have also drawn a template of the CD to see how it would look when the CD is in the cover.

I believe I have attracted my target audience by using pastel colours which I found my target audience liked from my questionnaire. The font is big and bold and will attract the audience. Moving forward I would consider putting an image on my CD as from my questionnaire results I have found that my target audience respond better to images than typography.

PRODUCTION- Digi-pak Inside Front

Here is the final version of the inside front of my Digi-pak.
On the plan I planned to have many images as the feedback from the questionnaire was that the audience want to see many photos not just one. After filming this lead me to look at the images I had taken and use them for this page to show a behind the scenes to give the audience an inside look to filming. I also wanted to include a message from the artist as this is something that is exclusive if the digi-pak is brought which means the target audience will be more intrigued.

After using a guide to ensure I evenly spread the images across the page I decided to fade the images to make the writing stand out and not look over crowded.

I have attracted my target audience by using loads of images (which, from my questionnaire I found they preferred). Using a personal message from the artist is exclusive and is also something that would attract my target audience.

PRODUCTION- - Digi-pak Front

Here is the final version of the front of my Digi-pak.

I decided to use more images as it was more eye catching and colourful which was my main intention. The main model is wearing fashionable clothing which is also something I aimed for. The typography is eye catching and keeps with the overall theme of the digi-pak which is fun and playful. I wanted to keep the front cover simple on my layout and I believe it looks very simple to a viewer. It is eye catching and you can see the artists image and name straight away which is great for the target audience.

After editing the photos I used a guide to make sure the images were even across the page.

I have attracted my target audience by using serif font and making it bright bold and colourful. As well as the font being colourful, the images are also which again makes the image stand out. It is also very simplistic and clear for the audience to see.

See below for an image of my original plan for my digi-pak

PRODUCTION- Music Advert

Here is my final Music Advert.
Like said on my plan I have the artists name on the top of the image as well as the album name at the bottom. I have included star ratings and social media. The background is bright pastel colours to match the questionnaire feedback I received during the research and planning section of the video. I have also added a website name and the record label also as this is something seen on adverts as it creates excitement about the product and is used for advertisement.
I have edited the background out of the original photo to place it on the pastel colour background. The photo shoot was done during filming.

PRODUCTION- Group Meeting

Today we had a group meeting to discuss what we should do in terms of the models. The 2 models we have been filming with have been reliable however the other 2 we had planned to film with keep postponing filming. As we have a deadline to meet we have made the decision as a group to only use 2 models for the video. This would work as we know that they are reliable and we will have them to film and keep them as our main focus. Hennesha has said this will work with her editing as long as the shots are correct and we have enough to fill the whole video.

We are going to film more next week to ensure we can get these shots for Hennesha to edit.

PRODUCTION- Session 8

Today we filmed on location for our music video. The location we filmed at was digbeth which we wanted to use as it was urban and modern. On this shoot we got shots for the beginning of the video and some shots of the dance. We have not yet done location filming so securing this session was extremely beneficial.

During this shoot Katie worked hard on getting different angles of the models and different shots for Hennesha to use to edit. Again Hennesha attended filming to ensure we got the correct shots which she needed to edit the video. Danit did the models makeup and sorted out their costumes, and I made sure I was directing the models and checking we were getting the right shots.

As this was on location we found it difficult to keep the public away from the camera as they were walking past it quite a lot. We therefore had to stand by the models whilst filming and instruct them to go around the camera and not in front of it. As a group we worked extremely well to manage time and make sure we were getting the correct shots.

We only had 2 of the models we needed as the other 2 did not show up. We have therefore arranged to have a group meeting to discuss what we should do in terms of models for the video.
