PRODUCTION- Group Meeting

Today we had a group meeting to discuss what we should do in terms of the models. The 2 models we have been filming with have been reliable however the other 2 we had planned to film with keep postponing filming. As we have a deadline to meet we have made the decision as a group to only use 2 models for the video. This would work as we know that they are reliable and we will have them to film and keep them as our main focus. Hennesha has said this will work with her editing as long as the shots are correct and we have enough to fill the whole video.

We are going to film more next week to ensure we can get these shots for Hennesha to edit.

PRODUCTION- Session 8

Today we filmed on location for our music video. The location we filmed at was digbeth which we wanted to use as it was urban and modern. On this shoot we got shots for the beginning of the video and some shots of the dance. We have not yet done location filming so securing this session was extremely beneficial.

During this shoot Katie worked hard on getting different angles of the models and different shots for Hennesha to use to edit. Again Hennesha attended filming to ensure we got the correct shots which she needed to edit the video. Danit did the models makeup and sorted out their costumes, and I made sure I was directing the models and checking we were getting the right shots.

As this was on location we found it difficult to keep the public away from the camera as they were walking past it quite a lot. We therefore had to stand by the models whilst filming and instruct them to go around the camera and not in front of it. As a group we worked extremely well to manage time and make sure we were getting the correct shots.

We only had 2 of the models we needed as the other 2 did not show up. We have therefore arranged to have a group meeting to discuss what we should do in terms of models for the video.

PRODUCTION- Session 7

Today we have recorded our 7th session for our music video unfortunately I was not present for session 6 which one of the girls have documented on. Within this session the team got images for our digi-paks and our music adverts which we can now begin to edit. They also came up with a new concept for the video to make it more understandable to an audience. This idea was that we have 4 singers who are singing to their ex's (this works with our lyrics). This therefore meant we did not have to rely on one specific person to film on all days and we could in fact film all 4 people. Doing this makes it easier for us to film and to provide footage for Hennesha to edit.

As said this did help massively and for session 7 we had 3 out of 4 models to film with. During this session when explaining to the group what our new ideas with one of our dancers have said they feel uncomfortable mouthing the words. This is a dilemma as we have planned to have 4 people mouthing the words. However, we did not need this model for the shoot as we only had time to film 2 of the models so we are hoping that this model will feel more comfortable after watching the other models perform. If the model would still not feel comfortable performing we will look for an alternative that will work with the editing of the video for Hennesha.

In this filming session we followed our new storyboard getting clips of the 2 people putting makeup on whilst mouthing and one of the models table shot when the music will say 'feeling inspired because the tables have turned'. The filming took place in the studio and we aim to either get the other 2 models shots next week or film on location.

Katie- During the session Katie worked hard to ensure she had many different angles and shots for the video for Hennesha to edit. This is something Hennesha has said will help her massively to edit as she has many different shots to use.

Danit- Danit did both models makeup for the shoot inspired by her ideas and ensured the night before that the models had their costumes ready for the shoot. During filming Danit also helped the group set up the lighting and equipment.

Hennesha- For this shoot having Hennesha present helped us massively as a group as she was there to guide us and give feedback as well as telling Katie the type of shots she needed for the editing. Hennesha also helped with setting the space up for the models to perform in and helped with lighting.

Izzy- During this shoot I made sure I was directing everybody correctly to match the storyboard. It was also important that I kept on with time keeping, I picked up the equipment with Katie and helped her set up the equipment. I helped guide the models and also helped with lighting to ensure Katie got the best footage she needed.

Overall when looking over the footage I am very pleased with how the shoot went. We worked extremely well together as a group and all stayed in control of our roles. For session 8 of filming we will either be in the studio filming the other two models or on location depending on which models are available, however, we will make sure we are prepared for both. For the project we are all making sure we are beginning to create our digi-paks and adverts now that we have the images. As well as this Hennesha will also be looking to start editing our final draft and giving us feedback on what she needs in future sessions.

PRODUCTION- Editing Blog 3

After reviewing back the first draft. I realised that our narrative was not clear at all, and i did not have any idea on how to make it clear with this narrative. Therefore I thought about it and spoke to my teacher and I came to a conclusion that we should change the narrative but we could use some of the shots that we have already shot.

When looking through the first draft I realised that their is not a variation of camera shot and movement and therefore i do not think that it looks very effective; as well as that some of the videos cut of peoples heads or were not table and fluid. Therefore I  made a document in which contains a new script, schedule and brief shot list. I thought this would be helpful and make sure that we get the shots we need.

PRODUCTION- Editing - First Draft

From my editing this is the Draft that I have so far. Not all the scenes are filmed which is why their are some blank spaces. I know that their is still a lot to work on and i am willing to be dedicating all of my time on this as soon as I get the footage.

PRODUCTION- Editing Blog 2

Over the last couple of days I decided to take a look at what I had done so far and make some critical editing decisions to see what if anything needed to be refilmed and if so what. When going through i saw a few places that could have looked better. For example the section when the male artist was walking down the corridor. This is because in the video the camera tilted upwards really awkwardly, i did not think this was an effective shot to show on its own so i decided to add in the film that contained a close up at this part of the song to make the video look a lot smoother. This is what i did
Tomorrow, i am aiming to post the first draft of the music video, however i believe that there are going to be a few blank spaces as i do not have footage for then.

PRODUCTION- Editing Blog 1

I have spent time gathering together the footage that my group has got and started to put it together. I have additionally tried to test out some of the effects that Adobe Premier Pro allows me to use. I spent some time over the Christmas holiday testing this out.

When looking through the clips I had been given, I realised that the camera wasn't completely stable. Therefore i had to select through my footage to find the best quality work. I then placed them into to the software and began to edit them together. I furthermore noticed that I did not have all the shots that I needed in the right locations. For example at the beginning of the music video the male artist was suppose to be walking down the streets of Digbeth, however due to circumstances the film crew were not able to work of site that day. Therefore they filmed him walking down a corridor in our college. I took this and placed it in the music video for our first draft, however I do not believe that i am going to keep this for our final product as it looks unprofessional. Along with this i was also given in studio dance footage. When making the draft product I used the whole of it. However, my intention as editor is to cross-cutting of this dance in different locations and this will be shown in our final music video.

As I was going along I decided to try and test out what i could use in Adobe Premier Pro and this is some videos of me editing.

In this video, you can that when i got back a second lot of footage. For some reason it did not fit to a frame. It was almost as if it was filmed and had a square frame instead of being rectangular. This caused a few issues as you can see. I had to (CmdT) select the video and resize it as you can see. However unfortunately it seems like it is making the image look more blurry. Lucky, our group have discussed that this is going to be re-shot and will be on the streets of Digbeth.

I also made the decison to merge these two layers together, therefore making it seem that the male artist was controlling the whole of the music video. So that it would make more sense to the consumers what the male is doing in the music video. I spent a lot of time changing and working on the opacity of the layers to get this effect as well as trying to possession them in the right places.

PRODUCTION- Communication

As a group we have created a group chat via Snap Chat to communicate on filming and new ideas. Below you can see a screenshot of our snap chat group chat and conversations we have had regarding filming and editing for the video. We use this to see when each other are available and through booking equipment and following Hennesha on the process of editing and how she is getting on.

PRODUCTION- Group Meeting

We now have our first draft of our music video which Hennesha has completed. Through this we have decided on what we are happy with in our music video and what we now need to include.

Filming: We have arranged filming dates for next week to get additional shots of the story so it comes across to the audience. We will be filming more scenes in the studio as well as going on location to finally get the dance scenes complete.

Costume and Props: We have now decided to use Lewis who is a male as our main model as he is reliable and one of the strongest dancers we have hired. This means Danit has had to change the makeup and costume. Lewis is happy to wear makeup which means our idea of makeup has still stayed the same as Danit's ideas. However the costume has changed to a blue suit now rather than a blue dress. It still keeps within the theme which we have first set.

We have had issues with booking out the studio due to it being fully booked. We therefore intend to film after college hours and focus on the offsite filming first to make sure we don't loose time and can get all of our shoots done for Hennesha to edit the final edit.

At the moment we are also planning on getting images for our digi-paks and our posters so we can begin making them for our deadline on the 13th February.
